Saving the Date
The summer dates and bank holiday dates go quickly so it is always best to book in with me by paying a £100 save the date deposit. The final details can be decided as the plans for your wedding come together.
The remainder is due 8 weeks before your wedding day.

About Gem
I have been baking for many years and after being made redundant whilst on maternity leave with my second child I decided to give the bakery a go. With much encouragement from family and friends, I started my bakery in 2012.
The baking has just grown by itself and after many years learning my trade with birthdays and celebration cakes, my main love and focus is now wedding cakes. I am so proud to be a preferred supplier at many local hotels and venues. And a regular visitor to many others.

The team has expanded and I now have a wonderful baking assistant, Gilly, who helps with EVERYTHING! She joined in 2019 and is learning all my skills and it's so great to have someone to share this cakey world with. How did I find someone who is as passionate and happy to be in the kitchen as me. We chatter all day and you should hear some of the conversations we have. Everything is discussed!
Qualifications
To ensure my decorating skills are up to standard I've achieved the PME Masters Certificate including Sugarcraft Diploma, Royal Icing and Piping Diploma and finally the Sugar Flowers Diploma.
Food Safety & Insurance
I have obtained the necessary public and product liability insurance, the kitchen is registered and has been inspected by the Environmental Health Department of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and I've obtained the CIEH accredited Level 2 in Food Hygiene.

Are you able to personalise the design?
Absolutely happy to change the design and personalise with any element you like. Change colours, flowers, piping. I really want to make this cake unique to you.

Depending on the number of people who RSVP would it be ok to confirm the size of the cake down the line closer to the wedding?
No problem to let me know size of the cake when you have more info.

What sort of deposit do you require?
It's £100 deposit with the remainder due 2 months before

Do you deliver?
We will always quote to deliver the cake to your venue. We most often take the cakes to the venue unstacked and assemble when we get there to save any dramas.

What about buttercream cakes in the summer months?
I haven't found any problems with buttercream cakes if under 30 degrees and at least with buttercream cakes you can keep in the fridge until they're needed. If it does end up being a scorcher then in the past I have set up the cake just before cutting. I did that once this year and it's been a hot one. I am happy to be flexible on delivery days!

How do you cater for dietary requirements?
We offer additional cupcakes with no added gluten ingredients or vegan at £4 each. The cupcakes have no gluten or non vegan ingredients added and means the food product should not contain these ingredients. However, they may contain traces from food production within our kitchens or other suppliers. We can't call it 'free from' as it may contain traces of gluten or non vegan products.

NB these are not suitable for those who are allergic to ingredients and may have a reaction.

Do you do wedding favours?
We do iced biscuits/cookies and can send a taster out in the post. Or if you have any ideas we are always open to new baked sweet treats!

How much does it cost to try the cake tasters?
Posting tasters are complimentary. Just let me know when you are around and we can work out a date to send.

Can I Visit Your Studio?
Yes, if you prefer to chat face to face then get in touch and make an appointment. You can also find us at lots of local wedding fayres. Check our blog for further details.
